Founded in 1947, the Jackson Art Association includes professional and amateur artists of all ages, as well as those interested in supporting the visual arts. Our mission is to enrich the appreciation of visual art by fostering fellowship among artists of all levels in Jackson and the surrounding areas. We provide opportunities for creative expression through diverse mediums, support artistic growth, and encourage public engagement with the visual arts.
We welcome artists of all skill levels and media. Our members paint, draw, use mixed media, sculpt, photograph, and create fabric art.
Jackson Art Association is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Corporation.
We meet regularly, the first and third Tuesdays of the month, from 6-8:30 in the Ella Sharp Museum of Art and History Community Room. Our meeting activities include valuable artist demonstrations, lectures, critiques, hands on demonstrations and pot lucks.
Members have the opportunity to participate in several juried art exhibits. The Annual JAA Potter Center Art Exhibition, the JAA Biennial Art Exhibition at the Ella Sharp Museum, and the Annual JAA Art Show at the Potter Center. We also partake in many other community art shows and events that are not juried where your art can be displayed and for sale.
Throughout the year, we offer workshops open to our members and the public. The instructors include guest artists and our own talented members.
