Join artist Nora Venturelli for a hands-on plein air workshop 🎨 focused on observing light, color, and composition outdoors. You’ll paint on location, receive individual feedback, and build confidence working directly from the landscape.
This Plein Air workshop is designed for artists of all levels. We will work outdoors in the Habitats of the Phyllis Haehnle Memorial Sanctuary, which include a vast deciduous forest, grasslands, a hardwood swamp, a fen, marshes, a vernal pool, Eagle Lake, and the Portage River. There will be a demonstration on composition/design, with special attention to color, color mixing, and paint application. The demonstration will be in oils; however, students are encouraged to work with the materials of their choice. Focus will be placed on individual needs. This workshop is intended to help painters of all levels strengthen their sense of observation and convert their observations into successful paintings
This workshop supports the Jackson Art Association’s mission to foster a vibrant local arts community. Whether you’re new to plein air or refining your practice, your participation helps nurture artists and arts education in Jackson. 🌳
